Uncomfortable CVs

Occasionally we receive feedback from people saying they don't like the wording in the CV we help put together for them, because it doesn't sound like them.  If you want a CV that works, having passively written achievements, or no achievements won't cut it.  In general terms, I'm happy if you're a little uncomfortable with the wording on your CV.  I say that because most people don't know how to promote themselves and saying things in a selling or boasting manner isn't how you would normally say it and therefore it becomes uncomfortable to you. And we don't want you to have to "sell" yourself, but the wording must be different from how military people talk about themselves.  Now is the time to stop thinking like the military team member.

To write your history and achievements how you're comfortable to have them written, the end product will be less effective, or totally ineffective.  If you like what's written, an employer probably won't.  The good thing is that in every case when we sit with the individual who is uncomfortable, we ask them if we have lied in any area and their answer is always - no.  After a brief explanation of how good they really are, they then see the value of their Trans-Civ CV and are happy to put it to good use.

So long as your CV doesn't lie about what you have done, learn to be comfortable with whatever wording is used to promote you.  It will benefit you in the long run.  If you want to know what uncomfortable, but effective should look like, call us now on 1300 366 104.
