Serco is seeking Detainee Service Officers (DSOs) for 12-month fixed-term contracts based at our Christmas Island facility. This is a unique and challenging opportunity not to be missed with numerous benefits!

This role is responsible for ensuring the security and safety of detainees from diverse backgrounds whilst their Immigration pathway is being determined. Key accountabilities include maintaining the good order and security of the Centre, resolving matters and de-escalating situations effectively and professionally, reporting case notes accurately through the Serco ICT platform and being aware and alert to potential risks.
To be suitable for this role you will have solid experience contributing to case management, public safety and security. You will possess strong communication skills and sound numerical abilities with a high level of written communication and comprehension. Experience working with people from diverse religious and/or cultural backgrounds will be highly regarded.
The Centre is operational at all times, you will be required to work to a 24/7 roster.
Selected applicants will be required to attend an assessment centre and undergo psychometric, language, literacy and numeracy testing. Applicants must also successfully meet the requirements of an Australian Federal Police clearance and fitness-based medical assessment.
