MARITIME ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS ENGINEER

Join Australia's Defence industry leader in a key role at a major maritime site. 
BAE Systems is Australia's most versatile Defence and Security Company.  The Maritime Sustainment business provides comprehensive through-life-support and engineering services for naval and commercial marine ships and systems. 
 
Reporting to the Platform Systems Manager, you will be responsible for developing engineering change proposals, performing the duties of 'engineering point of contact' for assigned projects or potentially 'design acceptance representative' of proposed engineering changes in line with  experience and delegation.  You will interact with a range of defence customers including the ANZAC Systems Project Office, ANZAC Class Ships and other ANZAC Delivery Organisation groups.
Key responsibilities include: 
 Controlling and monitoring electrical systems
•  Developing, reviewing and progressing engineering project documentation
•  Ensuring engineering documentation is compliant with engineering standards and quality system requirements
•  Providing technical advice within delegation on platform systems tasks and engineering activities
•  Participating in support of engineering change tasks and process engineering change requests
•  Providing assistance, liaison, technical advice and helpdesk support to Commonwealth stakeholders and the      ANZAC Technical Support Network
As the ideal applicant you will have:
 A tertiary qualification in electrical engineering
•  Previous maritime experience, ideally with various platform systems fitted to warships or with systems engineering    processes
•  Significant experience with a broad range of electrical processes/tasks including switchboards, circuit breakers and  cable running
•  The ability to work unsupervised and manage a program of work
•  Previous supervisory experience
•  The ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions
•  Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•  The ability to travel interstate on a regular basis
As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearance.  A current security clearance to Negative Vetting Level 1 will be advantageous.
International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) are applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
