Using Recognised Prior Learning and Recognised Current Competencies you can obtain formal nationally recognised qualifications without doing the actual course.

You don't always need to complete a training course in order to obtain a qualification. If through your Defence career you have built the necessary skills and knowledge, in addition to your civil recognition, you may already qualify for other nationally recognised qualifications from the Australian Qualifications Framework. In order to receive your qualification, you will undergo a streamlined competency assessment where it will be determined whether you already meet the requirements for a qualification.

This process is perfect for people that have done the job for several years but for certain reasons may not have attended a formal training course. We recognise that sometimes learning by doing is the best school there is!

Justification Letter for training courses - Defence

For those exiting Defence and wishing to access their Career Transition Training (CTT) entitlement, you will need to submit a Training Justification Letter to your Education, Training and/or Resettlement Officer to access your Career Transition Training entitlement.
